Dr Amy Hunter
'I was awarded the Phi Mu Research award in 2019 for work relating to my PhD. My project was to develop a workshop presentation at the International Continence Society annual meeting. The presentation informed Nurses and other health professionals about ways to overcome challenges to speaking to women about continence issues by using two cases developed from my PhD findings. The presentation was well received and has led to a number of further opportunities to develop work on this topic area'.
'Winning the Phi Mu Research award 2019 has provided me with an opportunity to disseminate my work, and enabled me to develop national and international professional networks'.
My application for the award focused on the importance of publishing within nursing. Entitled: Blogging for Beginners: How to publish using social media, my application emphasised the importance of sharing innovation within practice through publishing. ultimately creating a collective benefit for society as a whole. Writing for publication encourages nurses to think about their practice, consider current evidence and explore new ways of working.Emphasis since receipt of the award has been to encourage a collaborative approach to writing for publication, utilising blogging as an effective medium.
